About Kate Els

I’m dedicated to a life of adventure, taking any opportunity to try something new, whether it be fruit bat curry in the Seychelles, bracing a pool of stinky hippos in the Serengeti, or changing perceptions of Lagos, Nigeria, one traveller at a time.

I am a firm believer that anything can be an adventure, even making trips to a supermarket fun where I can. Growing up in Johannesburg, I have a die-hard love for this gritty city and have made it my mission to encourage everybody I meet to explore just a little further than their own neighbourhood.

You’ll find me making friends in a market, questioning responsible tourism ethics, or even just reading a new murder mystery in my spare time. I tend to attract hilarity, awkward situations and stray animals when I travel.

You can also follow me on TwitterFacebook or Instagram to get a daily fix, short reviews and beautiful photos to fuel your wanderlust.

My background as a tourism journalist, first as the editor of the established travel trade B2B website, Tourism Update, and then as the Content Editor at South African Tourism, has ingrained a deep knowledge of the South African travel industry, and IndiKate is where I choose to share this!
