Landscapes of Tanzania

Tanzania was a series of very long road trips for me. It’s so different to South Africa in so many ways. The distances between camps and parks can seem excessive, while the heat of the day and the gnawing tsetse flies get you down mentally. Looking back through my photos though, the landscapes are ridiculously epic and reason enough to keep going.

The horizon seems to stretch forever in some cases and the rock formations, long grasses and baobabs seem to fit into the perfect composition for a photo in every direction.

When I was a little girl, my dad had an Ansel Adams calendar hanging in his office. The black and white landscapes were inspiring and beautiful. My dad was the reason I started taking photos actually, when I was in high school. It’s been a few years of neglect, but practice and patience are getting me back to a better place photographically, these are a bit of a shaky start.

This small collection was mostly taken in Tarangire National Park and Serengeti National Park. The coffee plantation will be up soon on this blog, while the cattle going to drink was just outside of Tarangire. Look how tiny the Landcruiser looks in comparison to the baobab, and how the clouds seem to bring life to all of these skies… and of course, the tiny twilight moon.
