Ferguson’s 5th Floor is a new rooftop eatery, recently opened in Illovo, Johannesburg. It’s perched atop a fancy glass office block, but the vibe is much more laid back than the corporate environment it finds itself in…
From the get go, I found that Ferguson’s 5th Floor is completely relaxed. The staff are attentive, but not in your face, the food is fresh and easy, and of course the views are incredible. With doors opening out onto a massive deck with a 270-degree view over Johannesburg, there’s no way the view couldn’t be spectacular!

Ferguson’s 5th Floor’s menu was such a great surprise. We popped in for breakfast and the options were all freshly-made and ranged from healthy to a little more decadent. I opted for the smashed avo on toast (and it was a very generous amount of avo), and Alessio munched on the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.
What I did see on the menu that was extremely tempting, was the cinnamon french toast covered in berries and cream, and next time I crave a delightfully naughty breakfast, that’s what I’ll be going for! Anna-Belle Durrant from She Said wrote about her lunch at Ferguson’s 5th Floor if you’re looking for more detail on that.
Alessio said this was excellent, btw
Loved the giant dollops of smashed avo on my low GI toast
As for the coffee, it’s really good. I’ve gotten kinda fussy about coffee these days. I’d rather have one great cup than three average ones, and Ferguson’s coffee is great! But what I also loved was the option to get a fresh-pressed juice. I love the vitality in fresh veggie juices and Ferguson’s make a mean beetroot juice!
This was flippin’ delish!
The choice of fruit and veg to add to your juice.
The eatery was covered in proteas! My favourite!
Ferguson’s 5th Floor can feel a little strange to get to, mostly because you have to park and make your way through an office block, but it’s a great spot for breakfast and lunch in Jozi, especially if you’re looking for something quick and fresh, and healthy!
My meal at Ferguson’s 5th Floor was by their invite. As with all my posts, my words are my own. To find our more about Ferguson’s 5th Floor, or to get in touch, visit their website here.
